Alan’s professional experience includes COO of a residential treatment center serving addiction and emotional disorder clients, CEO of a New Hampshire boarding school, and nearly twenty years as Principal of a consulting firm that counseled nonprofits in leadership, planning, communications and philanthropy. More than one-fourth of his 200 clients were in the fields of health and human service, including many providing for the needs of low income elderly.
Alan serves on the leadership committee of the Massachusetts Aging Services Association (MassAging), the campaign cabinet of the United Way of Pioneer Valley and the Boards of the Alzheimer’s Association of Massachusetts, Salvation Army of Springfield and Springfield Chamber of Commerce. He is also a member of the Rotary Club of Springfield. His nonprofit Board service in New Hampshire includes the NH Charitable Foundation, Antioch University, Delta Dental, Easter Seals, Rotary and United Way.
He is a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and comes to Springfield by way of New Hampshire, where he and his wife, Cindy, have lived for more than thirty years. They have two sons, one living in South Hadley, the other in New York City.
